Classification Standard for Dump Trucks

Dump trucks can be divided into two categories according to their purposes:


It belongs to heavy and super heavy dump trucks for off-road transportation. It mainly undertakes transportation tasks such as large mines and water conservancy construction sites, and is usually used together with excavators. This kind of truck is also known as mining dump truck. Its length, width, height and other overall dimensions and axle load are not limited by highway regulations, but can only be used in mines and construction sites.


The other belongs to light, medium and heavy ordinary dump trucks for highway transportation. It mainly undertakes the transportation of loose goods such as sand, stone, soil and coal. Some dump trucks are designed for special purposes, so they are also called special dump trucks, such as swing arm self loading and unloading vehicles, self loading and unloading garbage vehicles, etc. The figure shows the structural composition of an ordinary dump truck.


According to the bearing capacity of the chassis, it can be divided into: light dump truck, medium dump truck and heavy dump truck;


According to the driving form, it can be divided into 4x2 (single axle) dump truck, 6x2 (front four and rear four) dump truck, 6x4 (rear double axle / rear eight wheel) dump truck and 8x4 (front four and rear eight) dump truck


According to different unloading hydraulic lifting mechanisms, it can be divided into single top self unloading and double top self unloading.


According to the dumping direction of carrying goods, it is divided into:


Backward tilting, side tilting, three side tilting and bottom dump trucks.


It is divided into:


One side open type, three side open type and dustpan type (without back board) dump truck.
